International Baccalaureate

At Auburn South Primary School utilises the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) as a transdisciplinary curriculum framework, providing an innovative approach to delivering the Victorian Curriculum.

Teachers use the framework to design learning that fosters authentic, relevant, engaging, meaningful, and challenging experiences across the disciplines. Recognising students as active agents in their learning journey, the PYP framework encourages inquiry-based and concept-driven transdisciplinary learning.

Our collaborative approaches, informed by constructivist theories, honour students’ curiosity, voice, and contributions. The learning community, inclusive of students, families, faculty, and the broader IB community, plays a pivotal role in creating a positive school culture. Through agency and collaboration, school leaders, teachers, students, and parents/caregivers contribute to a shared vision, fostering an inclusive environment that supports continuous improvement, well-being, and the development of resilient, optimistic, and lifelong learners who embody the attributes of the IB Learner profile.
