Positive Behavior Support

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an approach that focuses on promoting and reinforcing restorative and positive behaviours, while minimising and addressing challenging behaviours.

At Auburn South we use this proactive framework, and the ‘prevent, teach, reinforce’ model, to create a school culture that develops resilient, respectful, compassionate learners.

Our tiered approach enhances this framework, as teachers draw on universal and preventative strategies (Tier 1) to create a positive and inclusive classroom climate with clear expectations and routines. Targeted and early intervention supports (Tier 2) are used when students may need additional support to address specific needs and challenges. When students require high levels of support (Tier 3), we tailor intensive preventative strategies to support individual needs.
